Each item in the collection represents the nature of North Karelia, Lovozero and the Tersk coast, seen through the eyes of a 6-year-old boy on a wonderful, gentle summer. There are "Sun through clouds", "Thundercloud", "Stream", "Fishing boats on a shore of the lake", "Forest" with mysterious Northern birds, etc.

The frames are made of smooth alder wood, or a wood base in chalk paint, while the title piece "Northern Sun" is covered with gold leaf in the traditional technique of church gilding.
